Jacques Paquin holds a Bachelor Degree and a Master Degree in Business Administration and was involved in the creation of the first program in Logistics in Québec at the Institut maritime du Québec (IMQ) where he was professor and head of the department of Logistics. He took part in the creation of the specialisation in Marine Transportation of the Master in Marine Resources of the Université du Québec à Rimouski where he taught port management and maritime economics. He supervised the master thesis of many students of the program. Before joining the Port of Trois-Rivières, M. Paquin was Executive Director of Maritime Innovation, a research center in maritime technologies. He also headed the Centre de Formation et de Recherche en Transport maritime et intermodal (CFoRT) until its amalgamation with Maritime Innovation. He supervised around sixty research projects in marine transportation and port planning. Drawing on his expertise in transport system, port traffic and intermodal transportation, M. Paquin joint the Port of Trois-Rivières in 2007. He contributed to the design and implementation of the strategic plan On course for 2020, which was completed in 2017, three year ahead of schedule. He is a member of different committees and industry tables.
